Pilot a mech in a miniature world in Flight School Studio’s next game

Flight School Studio’s Creature in the Well is a stylish mashup of pinball and action, and we love it. It’s filled with crafted touches and an almost eagerness to make the world a part of the story itself. The developers now want to add that same level of detail and dedication to their newest project, Stonefly.

Stonefly tags us a girl, Annika Stonefly, on a mission to return a lost mech, but one that’s stuck in miniature world filled with bugs and pests (and tree bark). The game asks us to navigate the world and surpass its puzzles and hazards, upgrading our mech to protect us from things like cold and heat, enemies, and more. That’s done by harvesting resources, although that requires us to get bugs out of the way first.

Then there’s that art style, which takes the illustrative, almost hand-sketched aesthetic and works it over a mid-century theme, and then turned into 3D models.

It’s an intriguing game, that — once again for Flight School Studio — mixes a few genres together to come up with something unique.

Stonefly lands later this year across platforms.
