This year’s game includes special Jackie Robinson edition
Sony has revealed some new information about its yearly edition of MLB The Show. The biggest news is that the newest iteration, MLB The Show 21, will arrive for both PlayStation *AND* Xbox consoles. Previously, Sony had announced that the series would leave PlayStation exclusivity and make the jump to additional platforms, including Xbox. Now, we know for certain that it will be happening with this year’s game.
That shouldn’t be a shock, as MLB has likely been looking to flex their muscles to get baseball games onto more platforms for a while now. With The Show being the top dog at the moment it may have kindly asked/pressured Sony to either give up some exclusivity, or make the game available elsewhere outside of the PlayStation home sphere. We won’t know for sure, at least not for a while.
The cover athlete this time is the San Diego Padres’ Fernando Tatis Jr, the slugger who broke records during last season’s shortened year. An additional collector’s version will be available featuring Hall of Famer and groundbreaking athlete Jackie Robinson, with portions of the purchase going to the foundation that bears his name.
MLB The Show 21 arrives on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series on April 20th.
