Nintendo reveals next Animal Crossing content update

Mardi Gras Pardi Gras

Mardi Gras is going to look mighty different around the world this year, but that’s not stopping Nintendo from celebrating it in Animal Crossing. The next major update brings along Festivale, the party-themed festival that ties together Mardi Gras, Carnivale, and countless other colorful late winter events. The island will welcome character Pavé to the scene, and on February 15th the anthropomorphic peacock will teach players a new dance if they collect special feathers that float around the island.

The event will bring new items and decorations when it arrives on January 28, but also leads into a bunch of other new things poppin’ on the island. For one, a Sanrio themed set of amiibo cards will arrive during the month to bring in new characters and items based on the Hello Kitty franchise. Super Bowl, Groundhog Day and Valentine items drop on respective weeks leading up to the annual events. And finally, the company is teasing a Mario crossover that will take place in March to celebrate the upcoming finale of the Super Mario Bros 35th anniversary.

It’s chilly up here in the Northern hemisphere, but things seem to be getting hot and heavy in New Horizons.
