The MCU is hitting theaters in a big way
The global pandemic is still leaving us uncertain about many things, except for one: Marvel aims to be on the big screen for the foreseeable future.
We already knew that Black Widow was hitting the big screen in May 7, 2021, and that Eternals was aiming for November 5, 2021. We also know that Blade is being worked on. But now the next slate of films has been updated — and it’s massive.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is on track for a March 25, 2022 release, and adds several new cast members. The film ties in to the forthcoming WandaVision series and the upcoming Spider-man 3, so the film will certainly tie a lot together. Rachel McAdams will return, as well as Benedict Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and the film will introduce Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez. It’s being directed by Sam Raimi.
Production on Shang-Chi has finally wrapped, and the July 9, 2021 date is basically in sights (depending on what happens with theaters).
Marvel’s First Family, the Fantastic Four, will be returning to theaters for a fourth incarnation, and the first under Marvel’s MCU banner. Jon Watts is directing. No casting or date has been announced.
Christian Bale makes the leap from DC to Marvel as Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder. It’s coming May 6, 2022.
This third Ant-Man film has been announced. Ant-Man and The Wasp in Quantumania will bring its growing cast together as they face off against Jonathon Majors’ Kang the Conqueror.
Brie Larson is back in Captain Marvel 2, and will bring with her Iman Vellani’s Ms Marvel to the big screen as well. The film opens November 11, 2022.
Finally, July 8, 2022 will bring Black Panther 2 to theaters. The film won’t have Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa, nor will the character be recast, but instead it will focus on Wakanda as a whole and the characters from the first film.
