Company behind 2K Games and Rockstar buying racing game maker
Take Two, one of the largest gaming publishers in the world, is setting its sights on the purchase of another developer: Codemasters. Codemasters is a UK-based developer/publisher that mostly creates racing games lately, from the F1 games to the Dirt and Dirt: Rally titles. It’s consistently created games since its 1986 founding, and has been a staple of the British gaming world.
Now, it will add its impressive staff and IP to the racing-starved global publisher.
The latest release by Codemasters is Dirt 5 for the next gen consoles, with F1 2019 preceding that. Up next: who knows… Except that it will likely be under Take Two’s umbrella when it does. The deal is expected to go through in 2021.
