Don’t need to upgrade if you don’t want to
If you may not be able to get your hands on a PS5 this year and don’t want to miss out on a bunch of new games, don’t fret: Spider-man: Miles Morales, Sackboy’s Big Adventure, and Horizon Forbidden West are all coming to PS4 alongside PS5, Sony has revealed.
The company notes that obviously dollars can be tough to come by right now, so getting to the games they want should be a little easier. While Horizon doesn’t have a date yet, it’s presumed to be hitting the consoles in 2021. Likewise, owners of the current gen versions can upgrade to next gen when they’re ready via downloadable updates. That is, if you own the game digitally on PS4, you’ll get it digitally on the PS5, and if you own the disc-based PS4 version then you’ll need to play it on a disc-based PS5 version, much like how the Xbox 360 to Xbox One backwards compatibility works.
The PS5 launches November 12th for $399/$499.
