New games join list of slow, but growing collection
Nintendo is adding a few more games to its NES and Super NES online services next week., leading with the terrific Donkey Kong Country. The Super NES classic was one of the first on the console to use pre-rendered visuals to try and capture a pseudo 32-bit feel when SEGA and Sony were pushing their new consoles. Initially developed by RARE, before being taken over by Retro Studios for the Wii version and going forward, the original game is an impeccable platformer, that would likely win awards if it was released even today.
Joining DKC is Natsume Championship Wrestling on the Super NES side and EA’s dungeon crawling Immortal on the NES side. See? Electronic Arts loves and supports Nintendo Switch!
Japan’s offerings include DKC as well, but also throw in Shin Megami Tensei on the SNES and GUN-DEC (Vice: Project Doom to us) on the NES.
The games all arrive on July 15th.
