Rock out on the backs of giants
Beethoven & Dinosaur and Annapurna Interactive’s The Artful Escape was something of a strange enigma when it was announced last year at X019. Billed as part musical journey and part platformer, we didn’t really know what it would actually play like.
Fast forward to Summer 2020, and the teams have shared their first real gameplay of the project.
The game is planned to be a mix of adventure and platforming, with protagonist Francis Vendetti moving through towns and psychedelic planets, left to right, talking to citizens and denizens, on the eve of his first live performance and his quest to come up with a stage persona. Francis will interact with people (and creatures) he comes across through music, using guitar riffs and solos to gain their support. The beautiful hand-drawn visuals in the trailer show worlds full of bizarre life forms, colors, and a genuine psychedelic Yellow Submarine feel.
The Artful Escape is due this year on Steam, Xbox, and Apple Arcade.
