Transformers: Battlegrounds brings toy-like action to the series

All-out isometric action for the Allspark

Recent Transformers games have been pretty terrific. High Moon did a great job for Activision with its mainline games, and even Platinum did a nice iteration with Devastation. Now, the license is in the hands of Outright Games, and their first project is Transformers: Battlegrounds, a very different take on the series.

Described as a “tactical” experience, players will be able to assemble a team of Autobots to take on Megatron and his Decepticons, presented in an overhead/isometric view with tilt shifted visuals and a whiff of toy-like styles via the zoomed out perspective and lower-detail in the polygons. It *almost* looks like a mobile game that’s been ported to consoles, with lower polygon-counts and simple stylings.

We’ll find out more info as the game gets closer to release for Xbox One, PS4, PC and Switch on October 23, 2020.
