Part of 60th anniversary celebration
Dang it, now I need to spend more money.
As a part of its 60th anniversary, SEGA has revealed that it will be producing a series of Game Gear Micro consoles. The devices, four in all and divided by color case, will each contain 4 unique games from the Game Gear’s massive (not really) library.
The size is about 92% that of the original Game Gear, fitting roughly in the palm of one’s hand a perfect for sneaking into your pocket for your corporate bathroom break. The screen comes in at 1.15″, with a resolution slightly better than the actual Game Gear it’s based on at 240×180 pixels.
Retailing at about $50 each, the games breakdown is as follows:
- Black: Sonic the Hedgehog, Puyo Puyo 2, Out Run, Royal Stone
- Blue: Baku Baku Animal: Sekai Shiikugakari Senshuken, Gunstar Heroes, Sonic & Tails, Sylvan Tale
- Red: Revelations: The Demon Slayer, Megami Tensei Gaiden: Last Bible Special, The GG Shinobi, Columns
- Yellow: Shining Force Gaiden: Ensei – Jashin no Kuni he, Shining Force: The Sword of Hajya, Shining Force Gaiden: Final Conflict, Nazopuyo Aruru no Ru
There’s EVEN a “Big Window” accessory to help enlarge the screen with a magnifying lens adapter.
The preorders go live on June 6 in Japan. There’s now Western announcement yet.
