The legendary racing series is back in full
Gran Turismo is a go for the PlayStation 5. Revealed today during Sony’s big “Not-E3 2020” stream, the game will aim to capture the hearts (and flags) of the fans of the series. Featuring a new, expanded overworld map and a giant, customization-filled garage, the game won’t just add some nice non-racing touches.
Realism is absolutely key with Gran Turismo — it always has been — and with this latest iteration the game will focus on the benefits of technologies like 3D audio, letting drivers hear not only a purring engine, but all of the residual noise that it lets out as gears shift, the wind smashing against the windscreen, and cars driving or drifting by.
As many in the driving world know: it’s not just about feel and control, but the sense of sound plays an astoundingly important part.
The team shared an in-game race to showcase the new tech, but didn’t give a release date. Gran Turismo 7 is coming exclusively to PS5.
