The Empire and the Rebellion, together at last
In the first Star Wars Squadrons gameplay shown to the public, EA revealed a whole bunch of info related to single- and multiplayer modes.
In the single player campaign, players will create two pilots, one for the Rebellion and one for the Empire. As the plot advances, players will bounce back and forth between the two sides, until the ultimate finale at the end. During this campaign, new customizations can be unlocked, including fully customizing pilots and starfighters, cosmetics and loadouts, and even ship adaptations.
The multiplayer modes are split into two types: Dogfights and Fleet Battles.
Dogfights are 5-on-5 battles with four different ship classes. Each class has both a Rebellion & Empire iteration. Fighters are flexible ships, Interceptors can hunt down enemies. Support ships are almost like healers, and Bombers are the heavy hitters.
Fleet Battles utilize those classes in a multi-stage conflict that can be played solo or with friends, and against other players or AI. The battles include a social hub in which players can coordinate strategy before heading out to the stars. The three stages of the battle include a dogfight in which one team must capture the center of the map, two medium sized capital ships that need to be either defended or attacked, and a final flagship that must be taken down or protected, depending on the side.
Star Wars Squadrons arrives October for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
