All of the Teraflops, and backwards compatibility too

In a blog post today, Microsoft revealed even more information about the Xbox Series X.
The console will utilize AMD’s Zen 2 architecture for a massive 12 Teraflops available to developers. DirectX raytracing will be a mainstay as well, so that visuals will look and feel even more realistic.
The console will be backwards compatible across all 4 generations of Xbox, and utilize what the company is calling “Smart Delivery.” This will enable a “buy once” process in which owners of a game will get to play device specific versions no matter which one was purchased. Buy a game for Xbox One and it has an upgraded version on Series X? That SEX version is yours. Bought it on the Series X but your console is on the fritz? Play the same game on Xbox One (if it’s available for the platform). That cross-generational view of software ownership mimics what mobile platforms already do, but has been sorely missing from consoles.

Finally, “Quick resume” lets players have several games paused at once, with ease to jump in and out of whatever game they’d like. No longer will players need to close a piece of software just to launch Halo — those multiple games can run side-by-side.
