Stunning device plays games from Gameboys to Lynxes, and every handheld in between

Analogue has a history of merging beautiful industrial design with video games, usually developing retro consoles that look more like art than toys. Their latest device satisfies fans of the handheld market as they wait for Nintendo to eventually announce a Gameboy Classic.

The Analogue Pocket allows owners to play a massive amount of classic handheld games, from systems like Nintendo’s Gameboy, Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance, all the way to Atari’s Lynx, Neo Geo Pocket Color and SEGA’s Game Gear (via accessory).

It does this on a gorgeous 3.5″ LCD screen with 615 ppi and a 1600 x 1440 aspect ratio. Coupled with a D-pad and 4 action buttons, as well as power, menu, etc, the controls are completely mappable. The device also has stereo speakers and an audio jack, USB-C charging, rechargeable battery, SD card slot, and a multiplayer port (remember trading Pokemon?). It even has a built in music studio.

BUT WAIT, there’s more.

To top it all off, the Pocket will even be compatible with a special Dock that outputs to TVs via HDMI. And with two controller-focused USB ports and compatibility with 8bitDo wireless controllers, the device becomes a Super Gameboy/Switch hybrid, perfect for those that want to play multiplayer games without buying a second system.

WHEW.

The Analogue Pocket will be available in 2020 for $199. The Dock’s price has not been announced yet.
