Brings along new island, Battle Pass and more
After a couple of days of downtime following the mysterious black hole that sucked in the entire Fortnite world, the game has returned. Earlier today, Epic released Fortnite Chapter 2, a giant update to the game that greatly enhances all aspects.
Here are the changes and additions straight from Epic:
- Drop in to a New World – Choose your landing spot and explore an all-new island featuring 13 locations.
- New Water Gameplay – Swimming, Fishing, Motorboats, and more!
- Support Your Squad – Heal your squad with the Bandage Bazooka, carry your fallen teammates to safety, and celebrate with new group emotes like high fives!
- Hideouts and Explosives – Hide in Haystacks and Dumpsters to get the drop on your opponent or go in blazing by blowing up gas tanks and explosive barrels.
- Upgraded Combat – Get back to basics and battle enemies with a streamlined weapon arsenal. Upgrade weapons using resources at the Upgrade Bench.
- More Fun, Less Grind – Level through the all-new Chapter 2 – Season 1 Battle Pass with a brand new XP system and Medals you earn in match.
Though the game was already fairly accessible, the changes should theoretically allow newer and less-experienced players the capability to compete just a little bit better, without hand-holding or rubber-banding. The addition of water sports means that players will have a lot more to do in between shooting opponents and crafting structures, and the island locale will be a breath of fresh air to the scenery.
But, in reality, Epic and Fortnite are battling several new challengers, with games like Apex Legends and Call of Duty nipping at their battle royale heels, and Autochess becoming the Next Big Thing in PC gaming.
Fortnite Chapter 2 is now ready for update across all platforms, from Nintendo’s Switch to mobile to PS4 and Xbox One, to the highest end PC. Now, go get to the island.
