Nintendo reveals SNES coming to Nintendo Online service

A not-so-mini Classic

If you couldn’t get your hands on the incredibly popular Super Nintendo Classic Edition console that Nintendo launched a couple of years ago, you might have a way to finally play many of those games on modern consoles.

Nintendo has revealed that its Nintendo Switch Online service will now bring SNES games to the console. Much like the NES games that have been releasing each month, the Super Nintendo games will incorporate visual choices, save states and rewind features from the get go. The service will actually launch with 20 games, several of which have never been available in the US, or in other releases. They’re listed below:

  • Super Mario World
  • Super Mario Kart
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
  • Super Metroid
  • Stunt Race FX
  • Kirby’s Dream Land 3
  • Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island
  • Star Fox
  • F-ZERO
  • Pilotwings
  • Kirby’s Dream Course
  • BRAWL BROTHERS
  • Breath of Fire
  • Demon’s Crest
  • Joe & Mac 2: Lost in the Tropics
  • SUPER E.D.F. EARTH DEFENSE FORCE
  • Super Ghouls ’n Ghosts
  • Super Puyo Puyo 2 (First time in US)
  • Super Soccer
  • Super Tennis

The company will also release a bluetooth Super NES controller for $29.99 to its Nintendo Switch Online members, up to 4 per family.

The SNES game service launches on September 5th, and the controllers will be available later on.
