The Homeworld series returns for a new generation
Homeworld, the RTS series that graced many PCs back in the 90s and early 2000s, is finally getting a proper sequel, as Gearbox has revealed the next game. Homeworld 3 will follow the same RTS formula in 3D, putting players in command of a mothership and its forces as they gather resources, build armies and battle to stay alive in the vastness of space as a story unfolds around them.
The series moved from Sierra to Relic to Gearbox, and development was shifted around studios until it landed on Blackbird Interactive to develop a prequel and now the true third game.
Homeworld 3 hits PC in 2022, and is funding through Fig.
Gearbox also revealed a mobile game, Homeworld Mobile, would hit iOS and Android down the line, with early access granted to those who support Homeworld 3 in Fig.
