Obsidian Entertainment’s highly-anticipated open world RPG The Outer Worlds is coming to the Nintendo Switch, according to the platform holder.
Nintendo of America dropped a lengthy announcement video on Twitter announcing the release, with Obsidian’s Matthew Singh, the project’s senior producer giving the first batch of details.
Singh explained that The Outer Worlds will indeed be coming to the Nintendo Switch, albeit not at launch, with no more of a hint at the release window other than that it will come out “following” the initial release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. He also revealed that Obsidian won’t be handling the port, which will instead be handled by Virtuos, who’ve previously worked on the Nintendo Switch ports for games like L.A. Noire , Dark Souls Remastered, and Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age.
With no concrete details on the release at this time, things like technical specs, performance and the like remain to be seen, but it’ll be interesting to see how the port shapes up, as there’s a pretty consistent track record of major, AAA games needing to make significant compromises to port over to the platform, but as of right now it’s all pure speculation.
