SEGA out here bout to make my heart explode with happy
ActRaiser was one of the early SNES titles, brought to us by Enix (now a part of SquareEnix), and featuring a masterful mix of sidescrolling action, lite RPG mechanics and city building. We’ve waited years (DECADES!) for a true sequel (ActRaiser II shifted to purely action) without any hope left — until SEGA rolled in and announced SolSeraph.
The game takes all of those aspects of the classic, to the point where even the announce trailer above seems to make the slightest of jabs, and gives gorgeous HD visuals, hectic action, and full civilization building.
It has us starring as Helios, god of the sun, as we take on the Younger God in hopes to prevent his evil fog from taking over the world. As we defeat the enemy’s forces, more of the land is uncovered, allowing our people to settle down from the clouds.
Frankly, it looks like a perfect Summer game to play, as the mix of the two styles could be a welcome way to let us play at our own pace.
SolSeraph rescues our hearts July 10 for PS4, Switch, Xbox One and PC.
