Hotel living… or dying?
The setting for Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a haunted hotel, Nintendo has revealed.
Luigi and Mario have decided to take a vacation after the trip through Odyssey, and have ended up at the world’s worst AirBNB. Once Mario goes missing, it’s up to Luigi to find him and escape.
The third game in the series will introduce an upgraded Poltergust weapon, the G-00 (“goo!”) that has a few new features. It can now slam ghosts into ground and into each other for added damage. An included suction shot (think: plunger) can pull, slam and pick things up to use as weapons. And finally, a big air gust can launch Luigi in the air and ghosts away from him.
But that’s not all: Gooigi is back. The green, slimy version of Luigi can be used during single player modes to solve puzzles, or as a co-op partner when someone grabs a spare Joy-Con.
A fully new addition to the series is The ScareScraper, a multiplayer challenge mode, that can pit up to 8 players for local or online play.
Floors in the hotel are themed, from classic mansions to movie studios to gardens and dungeons. With Luigi’s Mansion 2 (Dark Moon in the West) expanded settings, this should make for an even bigger experience than before.
Luigi’s Mansion 3 launches later this year, 2019.
