Blam blam, pow pow, shoot shoot!
Contra is making a big, explosive return this year. The series, which many will remember from classic iterations on the NES and Super NES, has already been announced as a massive collection for modern consoles (and available NOW in the Contra Anniversary Collection!) and now it has a whole new game on the way.
Announced during Nintendo’s E3 Direct, Contra Rogue Corps takes the series isometric, similar to the special stages in Alien War, and turns the experience into a sort of twin-stick shooter. There will even be over-the-shoulder modes for a traditional 3D gaming perspective. Both of these combined will really stretch the series, which typically functions as a sidescrolling platformer.
Either way, it looks just as bonkers as past games, with bullets flying everywhere, military and alien environments, and lots of explosions.
Look for Contra Rogue Corps on Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC on September 24 of this year.
