Zooming past its original launch date
Buckling to fan pressure, the producers of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie are pushing the release of the film back to 2020.
While we can’t legitimately say that this was due to the backlash from the internet noise, the #novfxartistswereharmedinthemakingofthismovie seems to indicate that the backlash against that admittedly bizarre Sonic design was a reason behind the shift.
This isn’t the first time that fan backlash has changed an experience. Mass Effect 3’s ending was changed (for what ended up being almost worse) after an internet outcry took place, and just this week saw the finale of Game of Thrones lead to a dumb, dumb petition online.
Sonic the Hedgehog, in whatever form it will be, hits theaters now on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2020.
