Rocket launchers and robots work together well.
Avalanche Studios has been hard at work on Generation Zero over the past few years, culminating in next week’s release. The game pits humans against invading robots, but does so with a twist: it’s set not in a Terminator-esque future, but in 1980s Sweden, forcing the bots to be more mechanical and industrial instead of something out of Mass Effect.
Up to four players can jump into the game together, exploring the open world hunting enemies during a day/night cycle. The enemies themselves manage to keep their damage, so if you blast away at one and escape, meeting up with it again later will show its mechanical wounds.
Oh, and that soundtrack is pretty cool, too, if you like tunes from the Eighties — which you obviously should.
Generation Zero launches on March 26 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
