Bringing action RPG mechanics into our lives.
Japanese game developer Tokyo RPG Factory has had varying levels of success lately. While their sales haven’t set the world on fire, and the reviews for their most recent games (Lost Sphear and I Am Setsuna) haven’t been at the top of the heap, they’ve certainly built up a following among the gaming world. Their brand of JRPG seems to hit that sweet nostalgia spot, and, while not necessarily new, they do more than satisfy our time.
The next game they have in the pipeline is action JRPG Oninaki.
Oninaki has players take on the role of Kagachi, a “Watcher” that manages the souls of the Lost as they reincarnate and travel between the worlds of the living and the “Beyond.” Kagachi can activate these souls for magic spells, attacks, and special moves, functioning much like mini class changes during battle.
The game launches for PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC this Summer.
