I’ve never been able to spell “Cthulhu” correctly on the first try. Maybe I should spend less time looking down at the keyboard and up at the screen, since the upcoming game might scare the letters into me.
Call of Cthulthu, based on the tabletop RPG, is mixing all sorts of dark and occult themes together with psychosis, playing with our minds and reactions much like what Eternal Darkness did so many years ago. CofC does it with more horror, obviously, but it could be just as mindbending when it does.
The latest gameplay trailer from developer Cyanide Studios shows us what this mix could ultimately be like, moving from dungeons to city streets to mental hospitals, and ultimately to some dark, dark places, as the lead character’s actions affect his mental state.
Call of Cthulthu arrives at the tail end of the month for PC, Xbox One and PS4, just in time for Halloween.
