The developers behind Pokémon have a new RPG in the works.
Pokémon is more than just The Pokémon Company, it’s actually a collaboration of three companies: Nintendo, Creature and Game Freak. Game Freak has mostly developed games for Nintendo platforms, and likewise is mostly known for working on the Pokémon franchise in different capacities. However, the talented studio has been around for three decades now, and with the last two being focused on a little yellow mouse-squirrel, it makes sense that they’d like to branch out into something else.
Town is that new project. Announced during this week’s Nintendo Direct, the game aims to be an RPG set completely in one village. The village (err, town) is being invaded by monsters, and it’ll take a hero and his resources to prevent its demise. Beyond that, we’re not quite sure what the game is or how much is done, but the dev will surely be busy over the next year prior to the 2019 release — Game Freak is knee deep in the massive next mainline Pokémon RPG, also due in 2019.
