Doom (2016) was fantastic, and even made it to the Switch with an impressive port. Doom Eternal, the ambitious sequel, looks like it’s going to push the hellscape even further.
Announced at E3 earlier this year, Doom Eternal is a sequel only a couple of years removed from the series’ impressive return to relevance. The game looks to be as impressive a sequel as the previous entry was, with new enemies, features and giant settings. In Eternal, heroes will face off against double the amount of enemies as Doom (2016). More savage weapons will allow players to rip of muscle and chunks of all those enemies bit by bit, so that a big enemy can eventually become a small enemy — or at least one with far fewer limbs. Finally, id, the developer behind the game, revealed that players will be able to hop into one another’s games and take control of the demons within it, sending an all out attack on the current Slayer.
Oh, and somehow the game is coming to Switch. Panic Button will once again be handling the port, as they did for the previous entry. No release date for the game has been announced, but it’s likely not 2018.
