Beyond Good and Evil 2 flushes out the mythos of the original, while aiming to create an entirely new experience.
Ubisoft is billing BG&E2 as a giant space opera, and wants everyone to know it. During its E3 2018 press conference, Ubisoft Montpellier’s Gabrielle Shrager took the stage to reveal that the game’s 24th Century setting as a prequel extends to space beyond System 3. The game is an action RPG in which players can go it alone or partner with friends in co-op. The latest pre-alpha build will showcase the sacred city of Ganesha, which is both vibrant in life and chaotic with a dark underbelly of seedy characters and crime. BG&E2 will put player both on the ground and in space for massive exploration, and will aim to seamlessly blend the transition between the two.
The trailer above also reveals that Jade and Pey’j make their return (or rather, their debut?) to the game. Jade herself is much younger and more tenacious.
With such scale needed to be developed around, Ubi announced that is partnering with Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s collaborative company Hit Record. The actor/producer revealed that Hit Record will provide a home for fans and creators alike to develop art, music and more together with active challenges that will deliver content into the game. The first results of this will be showcased at a special BGE Fest in Montpellier in the Fall.
There’s still no release date or platforms announced for Beyond Good and Evil 2, but development is clearly hot and heavy.
