Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have announced a new game is coming to the Switch THIS year: Pokémon Let’s Go!
The game(s) will come in two flavors, Pikachu and Eevee, and will essentially be a remake of the Gameboy’s Pokémon Yellow… but with a twist. Literally. The game will feature motion control at its core, allowing players to “throw” a Pokéball at their screen and capture the little critters. There’s no fighting like in previous iterations, just throw and catch, like in Pokémon GO. The game will function from a single Joy-Con and feature co-op play.
Players can transfer Pokemon from GO into the game, including all 151 Kanto region Pokemon and their Alolan variations.
Also revealed was a special Pokeball accessory that can be used as a controller or to carry a Pokemon with you at all times to play with, a la Tamagotchi.
Pokémon Let’s Go is being targeted for younger fans who are “taking their first steps into the Pokémon video game world,” though the series is popular enough that it will probably extend beyond that. The game releases November 16, 2018 for Nintendo Switch.
