Junichi Masuda, Game Freak’s managing director for core Pokemon games, announced today that the next major Pokemon game is in development.
Though Pokémon Let’s Go and Pokémon Quest were just announced, neither of the games specifically qualifies as a traditional “core” entry in the series. That honor will go to Game Freak’s project, which Masuda revealed will be coming to Nintendo Switch in late 2019.
The news came during a Pokémon press conference in Japan today, in which the company revealed its plans for the series going forward.
