We’re getting closer and closer to the Big Show, and more news is breaking.
Nintendo and Microsoft have announced their plans for the annual E3 conference, and the expo may be getting bigger, not smaller.
This year, Microsoft will be hosting its press briefing at the Microsoft Theater, adjacent to the LACC where E3 proper is taking place, on Sunday, June 10 at 1PM PT/ 4PM ET. In fact, the company will house its entire E3 showing there, with booths and games, for a larger area than in the past. In its place at the LACC will be a section dedicated to Mixer, the company’s streaming service. All of this means that the company is understanding and embracing the shift away from E3 being a business expo one that includes more fans and general public.

Nintendo is once again going to be including competitive play in its E3 presence. The company has announced a pair of tournaments that will anchor its main stage show, the Super Smash Bros. Invitational & Splatoon 2 World Championships 2018.
The Smash event will likely focus on the newly announced game, though not many (if any) in the public have played it. Expect the company to invite the best Smash Wii U, Brawl and Melee players to try out their skills in the new game. Splatoon 2‘s championships will be the culmination of the ranked play sessions that are currently ongoing. It will feature teams from around the world battling it out in a formal crowning of champs. Everything takes place from June 12-14 inside the LACC at Nintendo’s booth.
