One of the games that really caught our eye at recent PAX and various expos was Battle Chef Brigade, the new game from Trinket Studios. Like the concept behind it, the project provided a mix of cooking and battling (duh!), throwing in dashes of RPG elements, anime visuals and music, and a quirky plot into a what was then a yummy taste of a stew.
Today, we find out when that recipe is finished cooking: circle your dinner dates for November 20.
During Nintendo’s PAX West Nindie Showcase event, Battle Chef Brigade was revealed to be coming to Switch, providing perhaps an ideal home for the concept. BCB continues the trend by Adult Swim Games of publishing innovative works by independent developers, following up on the excellent Kingsway earlier this year. In the game, players must take on the roles of Mina and Thrash as they battle monsters on their way up the fighting ladder to join the Battle Chef Brigade. While brawling is a part of the process, so are puzzle battles and cooking, as players need to not only be powerful fighters but also skilled in the kitchen.
It’s a strange mix that comes together surprisingly well.
Battle Chef Brigade arrives on Switch and Steam on November 20.
