Announced during the Switch’s debut, SteamWorld Dig 2 was set for a 2017 release. That’s still happening, and now we have a more firm-ish date: Late Summer/Early Fall.
For our non northern hemisphere friends, that would probably equate to sometime between August and October. On the company’s blog, Image & Form’s Julius Guldbog also revealed that the game would be arriving on PS4 and Steam just a few days after the Switch version. The company always intended to launch on a Nintendo platform (citing their strong relationship with the company) but there was never a contractual tie to release the game only on the new device.
Likewise, a Wii U version isn’t happening — the Switch has taken over, obviously — and the Vita and 3DS fans are important to them, but the developers have nothing to discuss at the moment about those platforms. The previous games have all arrived on Vita and 3DS.
