Pokemon is finally making its way to the Nintendo Switch in the form of Pokken Tournament DX. This new Switch version will have all of the content from the Wii U version plus one more Pokken fighter. The new Pokemon joining the fray are: Darkrai, Scizor, Empoleon, Croagunk (Arcade DLC) and Pokemon Sun and Moon’s owl archer, Decidueye (DX exclusive). Alongside these new fighters are some new modes:
Team Battle mode – Pick three Pokémon and battle it out to be the first to defeat all your opponent’s Pokémon to win
Group Match mode – Find similar skilled players in battle rooms for intense and fun battles online.
Daily Challenges – Complete a variety of different daily challenges.
Watch battle replays – Hone your skills by watching other players’ replays and share your best matches online with the new replay feature.
The new Pokken Tournament DX will launch on September 22nd!
During the direct the Pokemon gurus also announced a new version of Pokemon Sun and Moon called Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon for the Nintendo 3DS systems. This new leveled up version of last year’s release will feature new forms for Solgaleo and Lunala. There will be new additions to the story that were teased as “an alternate take” on that of the base game. Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are planned to release worldwide November 17th.
The last bit of news was pretty sparse, but meaningful to diehard fans. There will be a Virtual Console release of Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver this fall on Nintendo’s 3DS virtual console. The game is the same but with some cool next gen upgrades, like being able to use the Pokemon Bank and the wireless connectivity of the 3DS to trade and battle your friends.
