Another year, another Forza. At their E3 Briefing this week, Microsoft and Turn10 Studios showcased the next Forza game, aptly titled Forza Motorsport 7, for their Xbox line of consoles. The new game follows the year-on year-off schedule of releasing Forza-based racing games alongside its excellent sibling Forza Horizon.
Though the game will work with any Xbox One console, it’s clear that Forza Motorsport 7 has been designed to take advantage of the Xbox One X and its enhanced capabilities. Running at a native 4K and 60 fps, the technology certainly seems to reveal a game with incredible environmental and vehicle detail.
“Dynamic” is a big buzz word with the game, as weather now affects things like growing and shrinking puddle size, affecting the racing surface differently in different areas, and full on storms instead of just rain. Featured in the trailer is new location Dubai, which shows sand, mountains, wild weather and blistering sun. This will join familiar tracks like the Nurburgring.
Forza’s next cover star will be the 2018 Porsche GT2 RS, which it debuted on stage at the Briefing, signaling a stronger relationship with the brand. The game will feature more than 700 vehicles in full Forzavista modes, including TOCA race trucks for the first time.
Forza Motorsport 7 arrives October 3 for the Xbox One family of consoles and Windows 10 in Standard and Deluxe flavors. Buyers of the Ultimate Edition get the game early on September 29.
