Far Cry 5 reveals dramatic thematic postermatic

Just announced a couple of days ago, Far Cry 5 is already spawning memes and conversation galore.

Revealed on Twitter today, the box art for the Montana-based game depicts a surely violent group of individuals at a dinner table.

Reminiscent of the Last Supper, the image eschews the ancient Middle East for modern America, maintaining the beards and long hair of the earlier era but adding in guns and knives and rockets. Also? A Westeros-level wolf. On the bottom left a figure with the word “sinner” scrawled on his back sits on the ground, as if he’s being charged of a crime by the preacher-like fanatic in the center. To top it off, an American flag drapes across the table (with crosses instead of stars) and a church raises its flags in the background.

Yes, this will probably piss someone off, but it’s the Internet so we should expect it.

The direction is a change for what Far Cry usually gives us (drugs and thugs in foreign environs) and pokes right into the hot topic of today: steak.

Literally. There’s a steak on the table and a dude is poking it.

I’m digging the whole presentation.

We’ll find out more when the gameplay debuts this Friday and a full reveal takes place at E3.
