Surprising no one, Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter is indeed coming to the Nintendo Switch.
Announced today, Monster Hunter XX: Nintendo Switch Version is due within the year on Nintendo’s Switch console.
Monster Hunter XX, the sequel to Monster Hunter X (or Monster Hunter Generations as it’s known in the West) is doing fairly well in Japan as an offshoot of the main MonHun series on 3DS. While spin-offs have appeared on other devices (iOS, PS4, Wii) this one seems to signify a push into the Switch as a sort of main portable home.
More information will be revealed at this weekend’s Monster Hunter Championship 2017.
[UPDATE}
The game will allow for cross-play with the 3DS version, allowing friends to play with each other as well as transfer data from a 3DS to a Switch. Monster Hunter XX will release on the Switch in Japan on August 25.
