After years of being locked into a licensing agreement with Electronic Arts, Porsche is finally able to hit the pavement (ha! I managed to sneak in a bad analogy!) and head to other racing games. The first and arguably biggest is Gran Turismo; with GT Sport arriving later this year, Porsche will be a natural fit.
Here’s a bit of history related to the brand. It *has* appeared in other games, but only through hefty licensing costs. That’s what allowed it to land in Forza (albeit sparingly). The Gran Turismo series itself included RUF, a performance brand that used Porsche vehicles as its base, although it wasn’t truly a Porsche.
It may not mean much to non-race fans, but those of us who have grown up idolizing the company for its on-track and on-road engineering and design are thrilled to finally have the ability to take the wheel virtually in the biggest car games. GT Sport is designed for Sony’s latest generation of consoles, including the 4K PS4 Pro, which will ensure that the cars come in digitally more crisp and beautiful than ever.
