I am SUPER excited about this news. Kadokawa Games & NIS America have revealed that RPG Maker Fes is coming to the US on June 27!
The Nintendo 3DS software isn’t so much a game as it is a game development tool, allowing owners to create full-length role playing games on the portable device. The RPG Maker series is decades old at this point, spawning several iterations on PC and console before finally landing on the portable. I’ve been a fan & user of the software since the 90s, creating a ton of mini-RPGs in the process. Heck, I used one for a college final, so it holds up well.
With the game coming to the US on June 27 (and June 23 in Europe), it will release alongside a free app, RPG Maker Player, that will allow 3DS owners to download and play the games created by others within it.
The Fes iteration will allow for DLC based on Disgaea, Disgaea 5, and Phantom Brave, so that characters can be added in as desired.
I fully plan on going bonkers with the app, which could be a fun boom for development on the handheld for fans.
