Rumors started to spread last year about Thor: Ragnarok being a bit of a different take on the franchise. Who was Cate Blanchett playing? Jeff Goldblum is here? What about Loki?
Now we know, and the teaser that Marvel just released paints a very fun picture.
While the original Thor and The Dark World were more serious in their tone, Ragnarok seems to draw from the liteness of the videos that depicted what he was doing while Captain America Civil War was taking place. In those videos and in Ragnarok, Thor may have become too accustomed to life on Earth, loosening up so much so that an invasion from Cate Blanchett’s Hela character ousts him from his position within Asgard. He’s sent to an interstellar prison a la Guardians of the Galaxy, although the comparisons look to end there (Thor’s Asgard is actually a physical place within the MCU’s outer space as opposed to a god-filled plane of existence).
The clip opens with “you might be wondering how I got here” and ends with “I KNOW HIM” moments, worthy of the pop culture references they draw upon.
And that ending? YES, PLEASE.
Thor: Ragnarok arrives in theaters this November.
