Away: Journey to the Unexpected looks like a throwback to the classic first person dungeon-crawling RPGs of the late 80s & early 90s. The game centers around its rogue-like mechanic, with an anime graphical style that looks fantastic.
Aurelien Regard, developer of The Next Penelope, is the creator of the game, which nixes the typical visual realism of first person games with a style that allows for whimsy and a bit more freedom.
Away is coming to consoles (PS4, Xbox One, and Switch) and PC later this year. It will be playable at PAX East, where we’ll get a hands-on.
