Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor was a fantastic game, and a welcome experience in the first year of the current generation of games consoles. Though a sequel was rumored as far back as 2015, nothing had really materialized… until now. While it hasn’t officially been announced yet, Target may have spilled the beans a bit early on Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, a sequel to the game for PS4 and Xbox One (a PC version wasn’t named, but would be likely). The leak, found by Twitter user NickChevalier and shared by Wario64, revealed a slew of information.
First and foremost, the game is dated for August 22 and will follow along much of the same path that the original did: capture fortresses and recruit followers. In Shadow of War, players will seemingly also take on Sauron and his Ringwraiths, which could prove to be a deeper tie into the subject matter’s mythos.

Both standard version and a Gold Version will be available, with the Gold adding two additional stories, sidequests, a playable character and more. It seems to be akin to a Season Pass infused edition. At the time of this post, the Target link had gone down.
With so much solid information leaking about the game, it’s likely that an actual announcement would be happening soon.
