Project CARS is an exquisite racing experience, focusing on realism and perfection of driving instead of an arcade-like game. It’s a serious racer, one that isn’t for the weak of heart. It’s competitive as all hell, too.
The game also launched with some issues, notably that it didn’t have as many vehicles or depth that other modern racers might (we’re looking at you, Forza) and visual fidelity needed work. It’s also still supported by Slightly Mad Studios, its developer, and it has a thriving community online.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the dev has just announced that a full sequel, aptly titled Project CARS 2, is on its way later this year.
While the game will still focus on the tight controls and accuracy in speed that the original was known for, it will now push for the visuals to match. The game will effortlessly spit out 4K visuals, and even supports 12K should you have a screen possible. The ability to play in VR is also built into the game.
Over 170 cars and 60 tracks will be available to choose from, and a full online competitive mode will be included, something that held the predecessor back. Dynamic weather conditions (think: going from sunny to snowy to rain) and surface deformities (actually bumpy roads!) will give realism an epic boost.
For all intents, Project CARS 2 looks like it could be *the* most realistic racing game to sit on top of the podium when it launches for PC, PS4 and Xbox One in the Fall.
