The video game community is incredibly, wonderfully generous towards charitable causes. Humble Bundle is one of our favorite ways to support causes. The idea is simple: pay a certain amount to get a bunch of games, dedicate part of that towards a charity (via a handy slider) and BAM. You’ve done a good deed and received a great game (or games) in the process. While Humble has been around for a while now, the latest may very well be its greatest yet, for many reasons.
The Humble Freedom Bundle brings together over 30 games, audio books, ebooks and more in a $600 value. This includes amazing games like Stardew Valley, Super Meat Boy, Nuclear Throne and more for just $30. The bundle benefits the American Civil Liberties Union, Doctors Without Borders, and the International Rescue Committee, and Humble will match all donations up to the first $300,000. In just under an hour it’s essentially at a third of that goal with no signs of slowing down. The donations are divided among the three charities to the buyer’s choosing.
This is an incredible deal. We may have a few of the games already, but there are so many included here that it’s worth checking out.
The Humble Freedom Bundle will last for just 7 days, and is available HERE on their website.
From Humble:
Take a stand for freedom. Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door. – “The New Colossus” by Emma Lazarus, from an engraving on the Statue of Liberty.
We humbly remember that the United States is a nation of immigrants, and we proudly stand with developers, authors, and charities that champion liberty and justice for all.
This special one-week bundle features over $600 in incredible games and books for just $30. 100% of your payments will go to the American Civil Liberties Union, the International Rescue Committee, and Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). Humble Bundle will proudly match your contributions up to $300,000.
We chose these three organizations because of the inspiring work they do in providing humanitarian assistance to refugees and displaced people as well as in defense of justice, human rights, and civil rights:
