The masterful team behind mega indie hit Shovel Knight have revealed a new initiative for the game.
Yacht Club Games has announced Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, a rebranding of the game and its expansions. Up until now, fans have only been able to purchase the game and its DLC as one item. Treasure Trove is essentially that experience, including the original Shovel Knight (now subtitled Shovel of Hope), the Plague of Shadows campaign, the upcoming Specter of Torment campaign, as well as the recently announced King Knight’s Campaign, character body swap, and Co-Op and Battle Modes. The price will increase for the Trove, though owners of the current Shovel Knight experience will continue to get the additions for free.
Because the games are so expansive, Yacht Club claims, players now have the ability to purchase the games separately for cheaper prices instead of the complete package, should they only want to play one or two campaigns.
The raised price and ability to purchase individually will allow YCG to theoretically raise more funds from the content they’ve created, without hurting existing owners. In other words, better go grab the game now before the price goes up in Spring.
Additionally, the game will be coming to Nintendo’s Switch in 2017, the developer announced.
