Okay, lets get right to it! The WWE Royal Rumble is this weekend and I have been thinking about who I want to be a surprise entrant for the PPV that shapes the road to Wrestlemania. There have been many rumors about Kurt Angle or Kenny Omega being at the Rumble this year, but Angle has been announced to be a Hall of Famer and Omega has been reported to stay at New Japan Pro Wrestling for another year under contract. Even though fans would go crazy for either one of them to appear it is very unlikely that they actually will. But first let’s list who actually will be in the event before we make our dream picks.
The current list of entrants:
- The Undertaker
- Goldberg
- Brock Lesnar
- Big Show
- Dean Ambrose
- The Miz
- Sami Zayn
- Dolph Ziggler
- Big E
- Xavier Woods
- Kofi Kingston
- Bray Wyatt
- Randy Orton
- Luke Harper
- Mojo Rawley
- Braun Strowman
- Chris Jericho
- Baron Corbin
- Cesaro
- Sheamus
- Big Cass
- Rusev
A lot of interesting story lines here that can come out from that lineup. Will the New Day turn on each other? Will there be a Wyatt Family Reunion? Anything could happen at this point.
Anyhoo here are the top 3 entrants that I would like to see enter.
Samoa Joe
Fans predicted that he would be heading to the main roster and the Royal Rumble would be the perfect time for him to make his debut. Joe did not appear for NXT TakeOver: San Antonio and has been out of the NXT Championship picture since losing the title and the rematch to Shinsuke Nakamura. The first two-time NXT Champion can make a major impact on either the RAW or Smackdown brand and can challenge for either Championship titles. With a guy his size and agility he can give guys like John Cena, Seth Rollins and the rest of the main roster a hell of a match. We can only sit back and watch whether or not we will see the monster heel that Joe can be (or, perhaps one terrifying face).
Broken Matt Hardy
I don’t watch a lot of TNA shows but when I do Broken Matt Hardy is one of the only reasons why. *Name Drop Alert* The other would be my old wrestling buddy, Sienna. (Editor’s note: Binh has been a wrestler in a former life) *Name Drop Alert Over* A number of TNA talents will hit the open market soon, assuming TNA’s new owner Anthem Sports doesn’t get them resigned first. WWE would like to sign not only Matt but Jeff Hardy as well, in my humble opinion (if he is willing to conform with WWE’s wellness program). Matt has definitely recreated himself with possibly his best gimmick to date, playing a “broken” version of himself. It is unlikely that he will enter the Rumble since both Matt and Jeff are currently in contract with TNA until February and they have an upcoming match with the Young Bucks in Ring of Honor. Matt’s “Delete” chant can be heard wherever TNA has a show. Even signs can be seen outside the realm of Impact Wrestling.
Finn Bálor
After being the first WWE Universal Champion, Bálor was sidelined with a major shoulder injury no thanks to Seth Rollins. We haven’t seen Bálor since August when he was forced to relinquish the Universal Championship less than 24 hours after winning it. On December 19, 2016 Bálor hinted during a interview with ESPN that he might be a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble. If he does show up for the Rumble he will be 2 months ahead of schedule and WWE does not need him to wrestle that much heading towards Wrestlemania.
Here are other entrants that I would not mind seeing:
- Shinsuke Nakamura
- The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes (Not going to happen at all)
- Tye Dillinger
- Brian Kendrick
- Austin Aries
- Kyle O’Reilly
- Kota Ibushi
Who would you like to see appear in the big chaos?
