Splatoon was a huge game for Nintendo. Launched almost two years ago, the game continues to sell well on the Wii U in Japan, and still has a great player base online. Now, Nintendo has announced that Splatoon 2 is coming to the Switch in Summer 2017.
The game will feature all new battle stages, character designs, upgrades, fashions and more.
New dual-wielding weapons join the battles, known as “Dualies”, that will allow for, well two shots at once. Some of the mainstays have been updated as well. All new special weapons are being added to the game, allowing for even more attack methods. Jetpacks and the rail system (from the single player campaign) will add new depth and height to the play areas.
The rumored playable Octolings have not been revealed yet, though with the game launching in Summer there is plenty of time to surprise fans. Multiplayer will, for the first time, allow Turf War battles between players in the same room. Splatfests will also make a return, though no single-player modes were mentioned.
We’ll have more on the game closer to launch.
