Back in April, Square Enix and Audi revealed that a one-off of the special Final Fantasy XV edition R8 supercar would be released. Not much beyond design was disclosed back then, but now with the game just a couple of weeks away from release the companies have announced all of the pertinent information.
First and foremost, the official name of the one-off is “The Star of Lucis.” It takes its title from the Royal Art Society of Lucis, the in-game Kingdom where XV is centered. Audi states that the car was specially created “for Prince Noctis’ twentieth birthday” because of a Royal Warrant, crossing all kinds of real and digital streams. The company has laid out this bizarre fake history on a special website that describes the vehicle. Painted in the royal Ultrossic Black color and featuring arabesque patterns indicative of the game’s style, the car looks like it fits in extremely well, especially in the recently released Kingsglaive film.
Since only one will be made, the price will be hefty. For just ¥50,000,015 (or around $468,000) the car will go to one person who signs up in a purchase lottery starting November 21st.
The 2017 R8 is already a gorgeous car, and the additional details geared towards Final Fantasy add a nice artistic touch to the balance.
Sign up if you have the cash under your couch pillows, friends.
