Since revealing their latest console with a video trailer last week, Nintendo swore off talking about it until “sometime in 2017” prior to its March launch. No firm date had some fans and analysts speculating that perhaps the device wasn’t ready yet, or Nintendo didn’t have its plan prepared.
Those fears can be put to rest now, as the company has announced a special launch event set for launch January 13, 2017.
The Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017 will be geared towards Media, Analysts and Partners, and take place in Tokyo. The event will be streamed online on January 12 US time, so that the entire world can get a glimpse. Company President Tatsumi Kimishima made the announcement of the announcement during this week’s Investor Relations meeting, noting that the Presentation will reveal exact launch date, pricing, and games lineup. In the same meeting & subsequent report, Kimishima noted that the company looks to sell through 2 Million Switch consoles by the end of March 2017.
Though that date is over two months away, the holiday season will soak up much of our time between now and then, so the days should go by pretty quickly.
