Final Fantasy XV goes gold, announces online co-op mode, reveals new trailer

Final Fantasy XV is finally happening. FINALLY. Well, we hope.

Square Enix has announced that the fifteenth entry in the series has officially gone gold, meaning that discs are a-printing and there’s no turning back now. Code is done, and certification is in process. Perhaps that’s why the company decided to celebrate by releasing a short prequel film/trailer/teaser set some time before the events of the game. Starring Noctis and his fiancee, OMEN tells the story of a terrible decision made by King Regis and its potentially ominous consequences. There’s even a sign in the trailer that says “GONE GOLD.” Cheeky!

Squeenix also revealed that FFXV will feature an online co-op mode separate from the game, in which characters battle monsters and go on quests together. It feels like an extremely lite, more action-heavy MMORPG, but it could be an interesting extra addition for folks who can’t get enough of the game.

Final Fantasy XV will (hopefully) arrive on November 29th.
